=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= | W I N D O W S X P | =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= REPLACING BAD BOOT FILES Under some circumstances Windows XP will get overwritten with a bad DLL or file or a certain file will corrupt. In order to fix this you will need to copy a clean file onto the existing one, but in order to do this you MUST have Windows File Protection enabled. - Boot with your Windows XP CD, enter the Recovery Console - log-on, go to the file's directory that needs replacing and rename it (i.e. go to C:\WINDOWS\, type ren msgina.dll msgina.old) - now go to your C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386, copy the clean copy of the file to the orignal directory (i.e. if the corrupted file was in C:\Windows then I would copy it from ServicePackFiles\i386 directory back to C:\Windows) - type exit, your machine will reboot and the corrupted file should be ok. ############### ############### $#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$ -.######.- #$ T E X T S O U R C E .
