=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= | W I N D O W S X P | =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= QUICK FORMAT VS FORMAT Windows XP setup includes a new format feature called quick format, quick format takes approx. 2 minutes to format while on the same drive regular format can take up to a half an hour. The major difference between the two? quick-format will not check for bad sectors while it is formatting the drive, regular format will. If you had just recently formatted the hard drive you will probably be safe to use the Quick format option, otherwise it is highly recommended that you use regular format. If you used quick format and are seriously worried of bad sectors on your hard drive you can run a chkdsk by doing the following: - click start, run, type cmd - in windows dos type chkdsk /r C:, this will do virtually the same thing as the regular format check does. Note: you will probably have to reboot your machine since C: is usually always locked when in windows. Press "Y" to schedule it for next boot if you get the message that the drive is locked. ############### ############### $#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$ -.######.- #$ T E X T S O U R C E .
