WINXP SP2 TCP/IP Concurrent Connections Fix ----------------------- Understanding the Fix ----------------------- When installing Windows XP Service Pack 2, it installs a security feature that will limit the amount of concurrent INCOMPLETE connections. This limits performance in CERTAIN situations, specifically in P2P programs where they attempt to make over 10 concurrent connections at a time. The purpose of this is to secure the machine and slow down the flow of worms spreading on the targets machine. If you are not recieving 4226 errors, then this patch will not benefit you in any shape or form. To see if you have this error: - click start, (settings), control panel - double-click adminstrative tools - double-click event viewer - highlight system - Under source heading look for Tcpip, double-click the entry and you should have a error similiar to this: "TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts." If you have these errors occuring throughout the log, then this patch will help greatly. If you do NOT have these errors the patch is not recommended, and you should stick to the secure version of TCP/IP.
