DISABLE/REMOVE HIBERNATION written by: paranoidxe email: paranoidtsi@hotmail.com hibernation is a stand-by like feature that allows your computer to be turned off, yet when the computer is turned back in your desktop is instantly restored to the state it was before. If you don't feel like you need this feature you can save a good chunk of disk space (approx. to the amount of RAM on the system) by doing the following: - click start, (settings) control panel - click classic view (if not already done), double-click power options - click hibernation tab - uncheck "enable hbernation" Windows in theory should remove the large hiberfil.sys file located in the root of the windows installation directory. To verify first make sure your windows is set to show all files: - open my computer - click tools, folder options.. - uncheck "hide system protected files", click yes to the warning - check "show hidden files or folders", click ok - check your root directory (C:\) and see if hiberfil.sys still exists, if it does you can safely delete it.
