DISABLE DISK PERFORMANCE COUNTERS

By default Windows XP will automatically collect performance data from your 
disks. This is not needed by most users unless monitoring disk performance is
essential. So in order to disable this feature do this:
- click start, run.., type in cmd, click ok
- type in "diskperf -n" (no quotes), hit enter
- reboot your machine
