DISABLE THUMBNAIL CACHE written by: paranoidxe date: july 2004 email: paranoidtsi@hotmail.com By default Windows XP will cache thumbnail items so you can quickly view them later..if you don't use thumbnails this tweak is for you and may actually save disk space and performance. FOR XP PROFESSIONAL USERS: 1. click start, run, type in gpedit.msc, click ok 2. go to User Config\Adminstrative Template\Windows Components\ Windows Explorer 3. Scroll down to the bottom of the list and double-click Turn off Caching of thumbnail pictures, click Enable, click ok ALTERNATIVE FOR XP HOME USERS: 1. go to folder options (my computer, tools, folder options) 2. click view tab 3. check "do not cache thumbnails"
