CLEAR PREFETCH IN WINDOWS XP written by: paranoidxe date: July 2004 email: paranoidtsi@hotmail.com Prefetch is a feature of XP that allows for quicker application launches, overtime there could be entries traced to files that are no longer existing on the machine..this is when it may be time to clean it up. To do this follow the steps below: 1. use explorer, or my computer to browse to C:\windows\prefetch 2. click edit, select all 3. Press Shift + Del to remove them all You should now have a clean prefetch to work with, doing this too often however will decrease performance not improve it.
