You can also access Windows Update through the start menu, so there is no point to use add/remove programs to access it. So if you are like me and you wish to remove this useless feature then do this: - Open the registry (start, run.., regedit, ok) - go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ Uninstall - create new DWORD value named NoAddPage - give it the value of 1 Alternatively, if you are running Windows XP Professional you can use the group policy editor by doing the following: - click start, run.., type gpedit.msc - go to user configuration\adminstrative templates\control panel\add/remove programs - double-click Hide Add New Programs Page - click Enable - click ok
