This error occurs because a device driver is either corrupt or is 
incompatible with Windows XP.

To fix this:
- Boot from your Windows XP CD
- Use Recovery Console as the recovery option
- type in your adminstrator password
- type cd windows\system32\drivers press enter
- now type ren <drivername>.sys <drivername>.bak
- now copy the driver from the XP cdrom
  copy <x>:\i386 <drivername> Y:\Windows\System32\Drivers
- that should be it, restart your computer If not you may have to
  preform a in-place installation of XP files which is available
  as "Reinstalling Windows XP" document.
