   [1. WHAT WAS WITH THE ENDING OF THE MOVIE?]

Many will feel as though the movie sort of "cuts" off, to where there
is no ending. Well for the most part it is true, however the ending was
designed to where you can come to your own conclusions with what happened.

The ending essentially tells us that the ritual was completed and the world
was sucked into darkness..in which armagedon would occur.

Some also believe that they never actually escape the house and this is
just a vision.


  [2. WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF THE PENCILS GOING TO THE CENTER OF THE ROOM?]

In theory it was supposed to compel Paul to go towards the darkness, which is
where the evil forces were at. 


  [3. WHY WAS THE "EVIL" ABLE TO COME OUT IN "LIGHT" AT THE END OF THE 
      MOVIE?]

Towards the end of the movie, Anna goes with who she thinks is Carlos in
the bug, but it appears to be light outside. Throughout the movie we are
led to believe they cannot go into the light, HOWEVER in this case the
ritual is already complete and the light we are seeing is the eclipse
light so evil is able to roam freely.


  [4. WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF ANNA SWIMMING IN THE MOVIE?]

To reflect that she is pure, since Water is near universal sign for
cleansing. 


  [5. WHY WAS THE STOVE USED AS A LIGHTING SOURCE?]

The time that the darkness occurred this was the closest source for light
she could find, leaving to find something more logical (flashlight) means
she'd have to enter the darkness.


  [6. WHAT ORIGNALLY HAPPENS TO THE KIDS?]

In the PG-13 version you don't get to see the deaths of the kids, however
in the uncut DVD version you get to witness one of them get their throats
cut..which is what happens to all of them.


  [7. DID THE FATHER OVERDOSE AT THE END OF THE MOVIE?]

No, he choked on them in the process of ODing. This was explained in the
movie by his doctor that he could possibly choke on the pills during one
of his episodes.
