[2. DID THE LUTZES USE THE ORIGNAL FURNITURE IN THE HOUSE?] It is believed that ONE bedframe was actually used and some of their furniture was used as well. Some say this could be a reason of why the Lutzes experienced the horror at the house. [3. WHEN DID THE LUTZES MOVE INTO THE HOUSE?] December 18th, 1975 [4. WHY WAS THE HOUSE BLESSED WHEN THEY MOVED IN?] It was suggested from a friend of George that it be blessed, George and Kathy talked about it and gave it a go. They called Father Ray to do the blessing. [5. WHAT HAPPENED WHEN FATHER RAY BLESSED THE HOUSE?] In the room (that the Lutzes used as a Sewing Room) it became unusually cold, and heard a deep voice telling him to "Get Out." He also claimed to have been hit in the face. At this point Father Ray suggested that they try to avoid the room as much as possible. Father Ray later did develop blisters on his hands (told by doctors related to anxiety). [6. WHY DIDN'T THE LUTZES LEAVE AFTER THIS INCIDENT ON THE BLESSING?] They weren't even informed of this incident until later down the road. [7. IS THE PRIEST STILL ALIVE?] Reportedly he had passed away in 1987, but it is unknown where he may have died or how for that matter. [8. WERE THERE A BUNCH OF PILLS THROWN AROUND ON THE 2ND FLOOR WHEN THE LUTZES MOVED IN?] Yes, all were different kinds. The Lutzes claimed that they never noticed it when they first looked at the house. [9. WHEN DID THEY REALIZE THAT THEIR PLACE WASN'T EXACTLY NORMAL?] The big event that made them feel the house was not normal was when Kathy became "embraced" from behind by seemingly a woman..not in a violent way but in a warm, loving way. Other ways they noticed the house was not normal, was that the house became increasingly noisy..from talking to violent bangs. [10. DID ALL THE FAMILY MEMBERS EXPERIENCE THE SAME HORROR?] No, many times the experiences were seperated, for the most part Kathy would experience one, thing, George another, etc. [11. WHAT WAS WITH THE "MARCHING BAND" NOISES REPORTED?] George heard a bunch of unorganized music, like they were playing seperate tones and all out of order. Supposedly it sounded as though these people were on hardwood floors and stomping in the basement. When going down to the basement the dog was sleeping and the noises stopped. [12. WHAT ABOUT THE DOOR SLAMMING NOISES?] The front door slammed hard during the middle of the night, George went to investigate the noise to no avail. The dog was still sleeping, which leaves it to assume it wasn't possible for the door to be open. [13. DID GEORGE REALLY HAVE AN OBSESSION WITH KEEPING THE FIREWOOD GOING?] Yes, he felt that he could never get warm enough and that it was his top priority to ensure that there is enough firewood to keep the fire going. [14. WAS THERE REALLY A FLY PROBLEM IN THE HOUSE?] Yes, in fact there was infestations of flies in both the two boys' rooms and in the playroom (previously Ronald Jr. DeFeo's room). This was even in the middle of winter, seemingly he tried to kill them multiple times but they just kept coming back. [15. WHAT HAPPENED WHEN KATHY APPEARED AS A OLD LADY?] Apparently in the middle of the night, George had awoken her with a repulsive look on his face. She looked at herself and discovered that her hair was gray, several wrinkles appeared, her lips were tight and drawn....it took hours for it to go away. [16. WAS THERE REALLY A RED ROOM?] Yes there was, it was found by accident..when Kathy was rearranging the furniture in the basement she moved a bookshelf to discover a little room painted completely in red. The room was disturbing and had some foul odors, the dog also acted irratically around it. [17. DID GEORGE EVER GET POSSESSED?] George believed that he was never possessed but he had mood changes to where it would make it hard for him to communicate with anyone in the house and he had claimed to lost his sense of humor. George did feel ill and tired most of the time they were in the house. [18. DID THEY EVER TRY TO BLESS THE HOUSE AGAIN AFTER THESE OCCURANCES?] Yes, in fact they tried to do it, it ended with a voice saying "Will you stop." The ritual seemed to make everything worse. [19. DID DANNY'S HANDS GET CRUSHED BY THE WINDOW?] Danny was sent up to close the windows upstairs, in the sewing room the window apparently slammed on his hand..his hand was flat..on the way to the hospital though the hand changed and looked fine. [20. SO WHAT OTHER STRANGE THINGS HAPPENED IN THE HOUSE?] There are plenty of other, less serious things that happened in the house: * The smell of cheap perfume * black stains in the toilets * flies in the middle of winter * sewer odors in the basement * lack of ambition to leave the house * George waking up AROUND 3AM every night * heat and cold fluctuations [21. WHAT HAPPENED ON THE FINAL NIGHT?] They never officially said what happened on the final night, but based on the little clues: * The childrens beds were being leviated and slammed against the ground * The marching band noise came back * Many (if not all) doors were opening and slamming * An invisible figure seemingly got on top of Kathy and George [22. WHEN DID THEY LEAVE THE HOUSE?] The next day, on Wednesday, January 14th, 1976 [23. WHY DIDN'T THEY TAKE THEIR POSESSIONS?] It was believed that they were told it wasn't a wise idea to take their posessions with them. They had all their items auctions, but they did not attend the auction themselves. [24. DID THEY REALLY RECORD THE EVENTS OF WHAT HAPPENED?] Yes, but only after they fleed the house. They believed it may help them get over the terrible events that had happened to them in the house. [25. DID ANYONE INVESTIGATE THE HOUSE AFTER THE LUTZES FLEED THE HOUSE?] Yes, Ed and Lorraine Warren (Demonologists team) went in to investigate and felt a immediate feeling of sadness when entering the house. Ed saw strange shadow figures in the attic, while Lorraine reportedly saw an evil site of the ghost of Ronald Sr. DeFeo. [26. WHAT ABOUT THE GHOST BOY REPORTED IN THE INVESTIGATION?] March 6th, the picture was taken by a automatic infrared camera on the 2nd floor. The ghost boy wasn't discovered until sometime later when George's secretary pointed it out. Missy claimed it was the little boy that she used to play with in the house. [27. LUTZES MADE THIS UP FOR PROFIT NOTHING MORE!] The problem is that, they would not know the book would be a huge success, nor would they have known the movie would have been a success. They made very little of the profits in the sales either, Most of it went to the film producers and Jay Anson. [28. HOW MUCH DID THEY MAKE OFF OF THE BOOK AND MOVIE?] They made approx. $300,000 after deducts..this is what George has claimed in a 2002 interview. [29. WHEN DID THEY GIVE THE HOUSE BACK TO THE BANK?] In August 1976. [30. THE LIE DETECTOR RESULTS WERE FAKED!] At the time they were done by the Top 5 experts in the country, Chris Gugas was a student of the inventor of the lie detector. [31. WHO TRIED TO DISAPPROVE THE LUTZES STORY?] * Stephen Kaplan - the first parapsychologist that the LUTZES went to, Kaplan publicly talked to the media, something the lutzes didn't want, attention. They fell out when Lutzes found that his credentials weren't up to par. Kaplan then tried to claim they were afraid he would expose the "hoax" * Ric Osuna - Amityville Horror website operator was supposed to do a project with George, they fell out and Ric decided to write his own book now claiming he can prove that it was a hoax. He claimed that they lied and said nothing flew around the room and there were know wailing noises in a 1976 press conference. Misquoted was the problem here. Another reason he had was that the photos shown to Ric showed no slim on walls or blood on the stairs...but these were inventions on the book the whole time, it didn't happen in the first place..something he SHOULD have known. * Geraldine DeFeo was the character that Ric stated was married to Ronald Jr. DeFeo in the early 70's..but there is no records of this, and Ronald Jr said he did not meet her until 1985. According to Ric's book, Geraldine was at a local bar with Weber and met with the Lutzes as well as they were putting together the hoax. * Ronald Jr. DeFeo also says the Lunzes story is fake, but Ronald Jr. has told MANY different stories about the murders. He himself is a liar.
