=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= "SAW" THE MOVIE FAQ written by: paranoidxe email: paranoidtsi@hotmail.com date: 10/30/04 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= PLEASE NOTE, THIS DOES CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE DO NOT SCROLL DOWN UNLESS YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT SPOILERS OR YOU HAVE ALREADY SEEN THE MOVIE. YOU HAVE BEEN FOREWARNED... -[1. Why did Lawrence attempt to kill Adam after he already figured his family was dead?]- In the state of shock and not thinking, Lawrence may have thought by killing Adam his family would somehow be ok, and he would be as well. He was simply in a state of shock and denial. -[2. Was there any thing significant about the clown doll?]- No it was simply the choosen device that the Jigsaw killer used to talk to his victims with. -[3. How did the Jigsaw killer survive the shotgun blast to the back when Detective Steve Sing shot him?]- Jigsaw Killer may have been wearing a bullet proof vest and with the distance it was shot it should have been sufficent enough to protect him from significant damage, in the movie we see him clearly stunned by it however. -[4. Why didn't Zep just go to the hospital to get a cure for his poison and save everyone instead of going with the killer's plan?] - Zep is to come off as sort of a nutcase, also he may have feared for his life if he were to go to the hospital and alert police about the killer. He also may have not been aware of where the killer was, so he may have thought he was being watched the entire time. -[5. What was the point of the key being in Adam's tub? if he had got the key he would have walked freely.] - This was simply a plot device, had Adam got the key he still wouldn't have been able to escape because the door was locked. Lawrence tries to open the door at the beginning of the movie to no avail. The way the key was setup it seemed very unlikely that he could have prevented it from going down the drain anyway. -[6. How the hell didn't Adam and Lawrence notice that Jigsaw was the corpse in the center of the room, obviously he would be breathing?]- It is possible that he used a sedative to reduce movements and breathing, his jacket was baggy which would help hide the breathing, he also had a mask on so his face was not visible. All this, on top of the fact the two in the room were fighting to get out, not focused on a dead body laying in the middle of the room. -[7. So what happened to Dr. Lawrence Gordon? Did he die or what?]- Well based on his condition when he was leaving the room he looked like he was on his last leg (no phun intended), and since through the movie we assume that the jigsaw killer doesn't kill anyone himself, it would be dumb to assume he'd start killing now. So we are left to believe that Gordon a) escaped or b) died from loss of blood. -[8. So why did Jigsaw get people to kill each other and/or themselves?]- Jigsaw killer ended up being a patient "John" who had a inoperatible brain tumor. He figured by doing this to his victims if they survived they would appreciate life a lot more than when they weren't his victims, and that\ they would stop taking life for granted. -[9. Who is doing the capturing of the Jigsaw victims?]- Jigsaw himself, in some sort of hog mask. -[10. Why did Lawrence cut off his foot?]- Some believe that he was to get to the phone, but it wasn't by the time he started the phone stopped ringing. His idea was to cut off his foot, get the gun and shoot Adam in hopes that it would return, who he thought was already dead, his family. -[11. Why didn't Adam die from drowning at the beginning of the movie?]- It is assumed that we come in when adam slips into the water which wakes him up, it is possible that he wasn't in the water when he was first placed there. -[12. How were Lawrence and Adam electricuted?]- We assume that either Zep or John (Jigsaw Killer) had the controlling device, although unlikely that John had it as he had a tape recorder in one hand and a gun in the other. -[13. What was the point of the guy and the drills?]- If you really look at it, it was a device used to escape if he so needed, and it worked, by distracting one of the officers he only had to deal with one and was able to escape. -[14. Why did Alison tell Lawrence not to trust Adam she doesn't know who Adam is?]- This is what Zep wanted her to say, hence the gun to her head. -[15. How did all the Jigsaw victims die?]- The first victim, he attempted to kill himself by cutting his wrists. Jigsaw got a hold of him and put him in the far end of a room with the exit on the opposite end with razor wire inbetween him and the door. Jigsaw gave him 2 hours to get through the razor wire to escape otherwise the door would trap him in there and there would be no escape. The second victim was a programmer, not sure what he did wrong but Jigsaw put him in a room and told him he was infected with a poison and the cure was in the safe, in order to get the combination he had to go around and read the numbers on the wall with a candle, unfortunatly he was covered with a flammable substance and ended up burning himself. The 3rd victim, that survived was locked in a room with a huge steel mask on, she was instructed to get out of the chair she was tied up on and rip open the "dead" body's stomach to get the key to get the mask off. The mask was set to a timer and if she didn't get it off on time the mask would literally rip her jaw off. -[16. What happens to Detective Tapp?]- We can assume he dies from a self-inflicted gun shot wound brought on by struggling with Zep. -[17. Why didn't adam use the gun to shoot the chain?]- The chain is extremely thick in size, if relentlessly going at it with a saw won't bother breaking it, why would a bullet? -[18. Why was Adam involved?] - Adam was involved because he was a voyeur who was hired to take pictures of people on a pay to pay basis. He didn't care what would happen to other people as a result of his pictures. -[19. Hey, I noticed the gun had no shell in the gun when Lawrence went to load it, what gives?]- Oversight by jigsaw, in Lawrences state of mind he didn't even bother to notice it, and Adam didn't see it at all. So therefore it went largely unnoticed by both of them. -[20. What would have happened if Adam did get the key as he woke up?]- Well in theory he could have killed the doctor (which we assume was what jigsaw wanted him to do) or he could have avoided being shot by the doctor all together. Getting the key would have NOT immediately free'd him because the exit was locked. -[21. When was 'x marks the spot' clue given out?]- It was given twice in the movie, first through lawrence's message and 2nd time it was in Lawrence's wallet with the picture of his child and wife tied up. -[22. What did the 'follow your heart' clue reveal?]- Well in the movie it was referring to the toilet that was holding the saws and the pictures. However, further inspection of the movie shows that there actually is a heart on the bath tub which leads to believe it is a clue where the key is. -[23. What features do the uncut DVD have?]- The uncut DVD is set for a release date on October 8th. There isn't much other than a 2nd disk of special features. The film itself only has about 8 seconds of more explicit material. The girl is shown pulling the guts out to get the key, and you are able to see more of Gordon cutting through his leg. -[24. Did anyone survive Jigsaws terror?]- Yes, in theory two did. The guy that Detective Tapp saved. Also, the girl Amanda survived by digging into the guts of the "dead" cell mate and getting the key.
