DISABLE AUTOCOMPLETE + IE6 WILL NOT SAVE IMAGES IN PROPER FORMAT + first try clearing your cache by doing the following: - open ie - click tools, internet options.. - click "delete files", check delete offline content, click ok if that does not work, the final solution is to do thoe following: - click tools, internet options - click advanced tab - scroll down to "Security" - check "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" - click ok + REPAIRING INTERNET EXPLORER (in 9x/NT/2K only) + if Internet Explorer is having problems it is possible that some file has been replaced with a dated one, causing IE to malfunction. Try doing the following: - click start, run.. - type 'regsvr32 urlmon.dll', click ok + INTERNET EXPLORER WILL NOT DISPLAY GIF FILES + This is a issue that there isn't a single issue for, many people have had this issue..here are some of the common solutions: - do a internet explorer repair - turn off any running proxys - check to see if the following are enabled: Play animations in web pages Enable 3rd party extensions Show pictures You can do this by going to tools, internet options, advanced - reset file associations: click start, run.., type in the following 'regsvr32.exe /i shdocvw.dll' (all versions) now repeat 'regsvr32.exe /i shdoc41.dll' (for ME type regsvr32.exe /i thumbvw.dll) - try eliminating any possible 3rd party interference, for example Norton Internet Security. + FORCING IE TO OPEN FULL WINDOWS + Open internet explorer in non-maximized fashion, window mode. Stretch it to the maximum size you can. Now close internet explorer, open internet explorer, then click maximize button the close it again. Following these steps will make it so windows in IE will open in MAX fashion instead of windows. + IE NOT SHOWING DOWNLOAD PROMPTS + This is a file association problem, to fix this: 1. double-click my computer 2. click view, folder options.. 3. click file types tab, click the appropriate file type (of the file that failed to give a download prompt) 4. click edit 5. check 'confirm open after download' 6. click ok twice + REMOVE 'LINKS' FOLDER IN FAVORITES + By default a folder named "links" is in your favorites menu, this is stupid for most people. To "Remove" (though really renaming it) it follow the steps below: - open regedit (start, run.., regedit, ok) - go to HCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar - create new string value named 'LinksFolderName' - keep the value blank - restart internet explorer + DISABLE AUTOCOMPLETE IN IE6 + - open internet explorer - click tools, internet options.. - click content tab - click "AutoComplete.." - uncheck "Web Addresses", "Forms", "User names.." - click ok + REMOVE WINDOWS MESSENGER INTREGATION + If Windows Messenger is installed on a pc, it may intregate itself into internet explorer. Some do not like this, here is how to remove it: - open regedit (start, run.., regedit, ok) - go to HLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions\ - delete the key labeled: "{FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683}" - restart Internet Explorer + ENABLE INLINE AUTOCOMPLETE + If you prefer the style of internet explorer 4, then you might like this. Inline autocomplete means when you type in the address the closest match is already filled in for you, instead of having a list of webpages to choose from. To enable this: - click tools, internet options.. - click "advanced.." tab - under "Browsing" check "Use inline AutoComplete" towards the bottom - click ok + DISABLE 3RD PARTY BROWSER OBJECTS + To completely disable 3rd party browser objects and Tool Bands, do the following: - open internet explorer - click Tools, Internet Options - click Advanced, uncheck 'Enable third-party browser extensions' - click ok - reboot windows + FORCE IE STATUS BAR TO DISPLAY ALL THE TIME + - open 1 window of IE, click view, select status bar - hold the ctrl button, click close - now open windows explorer or my computer, click view status bar - click tools, folder options.., click view tab - click 'apply to all folders' - click ok
