This site, as you can tell, uses text almost exclusively..there are
several reasons for this. 



TXT is UNIVERSAL/HTML is NOT

txt files are viewable on pratically every computer in the world,
HTML is not. Browsers take HTML differently, what is shown in one
browser may be completely different in another. TXT on the otherhand
is very universal and will appear the same on every computer.


TXT is SMALL and EFFECTIVE

Though it may not be visually pleasing to some, TXT is considerably
smaller in size than HTML coded documents are. This conserves monthly
bandwidth, makes for quicker downloads for the user, and is faster to
upload. HTML equiv. document to a TXT document is relatively 10 times
larger.


TXT is EASY to PRINT

Those reading had need to print instructions will find TXT to be the
choice, it doesn't eat nearly as much ink as colorful HTML pages do.
Also, font size is generally smaller than that of HTML pages, thus
you also save paper.


TXT doesn't REQUIRE special SOFTWARE

TXT files don't require special software to open, a native operating
system should have built-in support no matter how old it is. On the
other hand, you have WORD Docs that require Office, and Acrobat files
that require Acrobat Reader.
