Wicca is a recently created neopagan religion. The various branches of Wicca can be traced back to Gardnerian Witchcraft which was founded in the UK during the late 1940s. Wicca is based on the symbols, seasonal days of celebration, beliefs and deities of ancient celtric society. A follower is known as a Wiccan. Wicca and other neopagan religions are currently experiencing rapid growth, particularly teenagers. [THE 4 TYPES OF WICCANS] There are generally 4 types of wicca: - one who believes that there is a single supreme being, known as The All or The One. The Goddess and God are viewed as the female and male aspects of this single deity. - one who worships both a female goddess and male god. - one who recognizes the existance of many ancient gods and goddesses, including Pan, Diana, Dionysius, Fergus, etc. - one who believes that the God and Goddess are symbols, not living entities. Contrast to what movies make Wicca out to be, Wicca is NOT santanism. The only similiarities Wicca and Satanism have are the following: - Both use a 5 pointed star as a symbol - Both generally perform rituals within a circle marked on the floor - Wiccans perform magick, but are limited to positives only Here is your very weak introduction into the world of Wicca, this should clear up any misconceptions about the beliefs.
