5th Generation 60gb iPod Review

Likes:
- Photo/Video Functionality, while I probably won't be using the video function it sure is nice to have it there just in case. The photo functions are simply awesome coming from a regular digital cam user its nice to have a device I can carry around with all my pictures.
- Notes Functionality
- Ease of Use, navigation in the menus is simple even a 5 year-old could learn.
- Organization, its nice to be able to view music by album, genre, song, artist, etc.
- The amount of storage available, 60gb that I will probably NEVER fill up. I'm only 2.37GB in with 1 video, about 500 songs..I can't see myself ever making the 60gb capacity it offers.
- Games, nifty for some cheap entertainment when you are waiting for something..even if the games aren't that neat.
- Easy intergation with the iTunes Store. I can easily just order off of iTunes music store, then simply drag and drop them into the iPod instead of having to convert or fiddle with a bunch of settings.

Dislikes:
- Pretty much left with no option but to use iTunes to put files on your iPod.
- scratches incredibly easy, though I'm not as picky about this as some are..its dissappointing considering its a $400 product.
- inability for "direct-access" modifications on the iPod, i.e. naming playlists with the iPod instead of having to hook it to a machine everytime. I am aware of the On-the-Go Function, but you still can't freely name your playlists. Also, there is no direct delete function on the iPod..I'd like to see this added in the next model..make it not so dependant on iTunes to do everything.
- the lag when selecting songs, album art makes it longer but I've noticed the lag is still there even with album art removed. Hopefully this will be fixed with a firmware upgrade.
- Its not very difficult, but still an annoyance to have to convert your video files to be able to put on the iPod.

Some iTunes software complaints:
- Library is strictly based on ID3 tags on mp3s, this is a annoyance mostly because people that created the mp3 don't use the ID3 tag at all or they are mislabeled.
- Library doesn't have a "auto-update" function (at least not that I know of), so you have to manually add newly created files.
- iTunes is a clunker and a RAM Hog..which it was a smaller more effective piece of software.
