                    T H E   P R O B L E M S

     * TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS *
Since the release of the Subaru Impreza WRX, the vehicles have been plagued 
with transmission problems. Common problems with the transmission include
but not limited to:
  - problems shifting into 2nd gear
  - inability to downshift into 1st gear without a complete stop
  - 5th gear unexpectedly pops out of gear

This is not only WRX specific, this issue also occurs with the 2.5RS model.


     * CLUTCH PROBLEMS *
Yet another common issue with the vehicle is the clutch problems which include
excessive vibration/noise when downshifting, clutch shudder on startup or in
cold weather, and slipping clutch (when it is way to early for replacement).



    * DENIAL OF WARRANTIES *
Subaru is very picky about warranty coverage, the common excuse to their 
poorly designed transmissions are that the vehicle was "abused". Well news
for ya subaru, you designed a sports car they are designed to run hard.

If the vehicle is even slightly modified subaru will also reject your claim,
even if the component has nothing to do with what was upgraded. For example,
simply adding an exhaust system to your vehicle may void your warranty.



    * WINDOW PROBLEMS *
The power window design on these vehicles is also poorly done, the windows
tend to squeek and/or the window regulator has premature failure causing
windows to get stuck in the up or down position.

The front windsheild is poorly designed and tends to crack easily. When
a pebble hits it you may end up with a 12 inch crack.


    * ANTILOCK BREAKING SYSTEM PROBLEM *
when you are hard breaking and you hit a bump the abs system seems to fail
and it feels like the brakes dont work, you have to let off the brake and
depress it again for it to work.

Besides the obvious poor design of the vehicles, here are some of my opinions
about the vehicle.

The vehicle design is not that of a sports car, rather a design of a 4 door
family car designed to get grocheries in a hurry? come on now. The STi sees
a little improvement in this category, but also drops (i think) a better 
looking wagon design for the sedan design.

Lets not forget the functional hood scoop, which does make great for the little
intercooler, but the design makes it a pain in the ass to add a aftermarket 
intercooler too.

Very few factory options available for the STi, Wheel locks for your nice 
stock rims <eyeroll>. Carbon Fiber patterned trim, again dumb. Armrest, which
should come standard is a freakin option. Air Filter behind glove box is yet
another dumb option who honestly needs air filtering in there vehicle?
